Oklahoma Sooners’ Week 4 gets even worse before it even begins as they get hit with potentially devastating news
The Oklahoma Sooners are set to play Georgia in Week 4, and they could be without star defensive tackle David Stone.
The Oklahoma Sooners got some terrible news on Monday. As if the team wasn’t already going through it, this is just the cherry on top. Now, they could have some devastating news. Star defensive tackle Davis Stone was injured Monday at practice.
According to George Stoia of Soonerscoop.com, Stone suffered a lower-body injury. He’s scheduled for further testing. This suggests he could miss Saturday’s game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

If there’s ever a game they need him, it’s probably that one. Stone is the best defensive lineman on the team, maybe second only to Taylor Wein. And even so, Stone has some pretty insane potential. He’s an elite run stopper. He’s elite at eating up space and just putting guards and centers through the wringer.
But Georgia has some of the best players in the country. In fact, you could make the case that the Bulldogs are the best team in the country. They are certainly one of the most well-coached teams in the country. Their offensive line could still have their way without Stone. However, the Sooners were very prepared for something like this.
Oklahoma Sooners have elite depth on the defensive line
Not long ago, the Sooners added Danny Saili, the former Razorback DT, from the transfer portal. They followed that up by adding former Voise State DT Braxton Fely. That was just recently. Before that, they were active in getting other DTs for depth. Bishop Thomas, the transfer-portal addition, has made some nice plays so far this season.
Of course, Trent Wilson has progressed nicely, too. Now, that’s not me saying the Sooners won’t have an issue without Stone. No, they could struggle. Heck, they could struggle with him because Georgia is that good. But this news certainly doesn’t make anything any better.
