Georgia hasn’t won a game against Alabama in Tuscaloosa since 2007.

The Bulldogs will be looking to end that streak this weekend when they play on the road against the Crimson Tide.

Both teams enter the game with a 5-0 record. The winner will instantly be one of the favorites to be the top overall seed in the College Football Playoff later this year.

ESPN’s Greg McElroy predicts the final score of Georgia vs Alabama

ESPN’s Greg McElroy, a former Crimson Tide quarterback, made his prediction for the game and he thinks the outcome will be decided by just three points.

McElroy has Alabama leaving Bryant-Denny Stadium with a 31-28 win.

“Alabama has 13 takeaways this year,” said McElroy on Tuesday. “That’s top two in the sport. (Georgia QB) Gunner Stockton has thrown one interception all season, so something’s got to give here. If Alabama can steal one or maybe two possessions, then that gives them a significant edge in a game that is very much a toss-up. I’m taking the Crimson Tide 31, Georgia 28.

“On paper, Georgia has the much better defense. They give up less than four yards per play. That’s the best in college football. But right now, they haven’t seen anything quite like what Alabama has offensively. (Alabama QB) Keelon Russell is playing the best football of anybody on the entire field, and Georgia’s going to have to blitz, I think, to get home before he lets it go. Kirby Smart is 90-3 in his career when Georgia scores 30 or more, and we’ve got the Bulldogs stopping just short of that. He’s also 2-7 against Alabama and 120-14 against everybody else. So it’s going to be very hard to take the Bulldogs against a really improved Alabama football team in Tuscaloosa.

“I also think Alabama will force a takeaway or two that will ultimately be the difference in what is a three-point game. Look, Georgia brings the better defense to Bryant-Denny on Saturday night, but I think Alabama has the edge in just about everything else. Give me the Tide, 31-28.”

Georgia and Alabama are set to kick off at 6:30 PM CT/7:30 PM ET on Saturday. The game will air on ABC.
