Miami Hurricanes hint at Heisman Trophy plans on social media, and it would be the correct and obvious move
Miami has a pair of undeniably qualified candidates for the biggest individual award in college sports.
The Miami Hurricanes are in the midst of a potentially special season, and it’s been driven by the best duo in all of college football.
Duke transfer QB Darian Mensah has arguably been the best signal caller in all of college football this year. And his top target, sophomore do-it-all WR Malachi Toney, has been equally elite in his own right.
Both have proven through just over half the season to be among the best of the best in college football. And as such, the University of Miami appears set to promote both of them for Heisman Trophy consideration.
Or at least that’s what they hinted at on Monday morning on Twitter (X). The school’s official football account put up a video with the caption: “Two names. One standard. Tonight. 7 PM ET.”
Miami appears set to promote Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney for the Heisman Trophy
The 25-second clip shows a projector turning on, with highlights of both players reflecting off the “U Statue” on campus. The final commentary is notable:
“They could both be going to New York.”
As such, it seems likely, reading the tea leaves, that Miami will announce their promotion of both players Monday night at 7 pm ET. And without question, both deserve it.
Mensah has completed 81.4% of his passes (166 of 204) for 2151 yards and 22 touchdowns with just one interception. Toney leads FBS college football by a wide margin with 66 catches, is third with 952 receiving yards, and is third with 11 receiving scores.
