LSU and Lane Kiffin are on the verge of delivering a crushing blow to one of the top teams in the SEC
Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are about to put a bow on one of college football’s biggest stories this offseason.
Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are on the verge of delivering a crushing blow to one of the top teams in the SEC.
One of the biggest stories of the offseason has been the recruitment of 2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation (per 247Sports’ composite rankings).
Royal, who is from New Orleans, has been committed to Texas since last November, but LSU has never stopped recruiting him.
And now the Tigers, according to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong, are poised to flip Royal from the Longhorns.
Wiltfong predicted on Friday that Royal will decommit from Texas and subsequently commit to LSU.
“As it stands now, another program looks to have more momentum. LSU,” wrote Wiltfong. “With that, I’ve logged a Rivals Prediction Machine forecast in favor of the Tigers to ultimately flip Royal from the Longhorns. This is a pulse pick and more of an indication of how I think this recruitment will play out.”
It may take some time before Royal actually makes a move, but the full expectation is that he’ll ultimately stay in state and commit to the Tigers.
And when that happens, I don’t think anyone will be surprised that Kiffin and LSU managed to keep an elite receiver from Louisiana from leaving the state. No matter who the coach is at LSU, the best receivers from the boot stay in the boot.
