Ole Miss WR Deuce Alexander leaves no doubt on how he feels about the Ole Miss players who transferred to LSU to play for Lane Kiffin
The LSU Tigers will travel to Oxford this weekend for a much anticipated matchup with the Ole Miss Rebels.
The college football world will be transfixed on Oxford this weekend as the LSU Tigers come to town for a much-anticipated matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels.
The main storyline, of course, is LSU head coach Lane Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss just nine-and-a-half months after leaving Oxford for Baton Rouge.
Another storyline will be the return of the former Ole Miss players who transferred to LSU to play for Kiffin: Defensive end Princewill Umanmielen, linebacker TJ Dottery, wide receiver Winston Watkins, and offensive lineman Devin Harper.
Ole Miss wide receiver Deuce Alexander, who admitted that this game has been “circled” on the calendar, spoke to reporters on Tuesday and he made it clear how he feels about his former Rebels teammates who are now in Baton Rouge.
“My goal was to retain everybody,” said Alexander. “But of course you can’t — the transfer portal is gonna happen. But the guys who left, there’s no bad blood with them. I still love them. They’re still my guys. But at the end of the day, they’re on the other side of the ball. So business has got to get taken care of, then after we can be friends.”
Alexander, who started his career at Wake Forest, added that LSU tried to get him to transfer, but he decided to stay at Ole Miss because he views Oxford as “home.”
It’s undoubtedly going to be a wild night in Oxford on Saturday, and I’m sure there will be plenty of trash talk on the field between players. But at the end of the day, it’s (mostly) all love between the guys competing.
