Notre Dame football and head coach Marcus Freeman might be looking at a 2-for-1 special in the 2028 recruiting class. The Fighting Irish have extended offers to 2028 Kerrville (Texas) Tivy cornerback Kyren Armelin and his twin brother, 2028 wide receiver Kenyon Armelin. Both are starting to pop from a recruiting perspective.

Both brothers are listed at 6-1, 190 pounds. Neither one holds a ranking on the 247 Sports Composite yet, but that hasn’t stopped them from drawing attention from some prominent programs. Notre Dame is among them, and that list keeps growing.

They also come from Texas, which puts out as much talent as any state in high school football. A pair of fast risers from the Lone Star State with this kind of athletic profile makes this a recruitment worth watching.

Kyren and Kenyon Armelin’s recruiting background

Kyren, the cornerback in this twin duo, has seen his offer list grow the most. Some of his top offers include the Fighting Irish, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Houston, Kentucky, and West Virginia, among a couple of others.

Kenyon has a similar offer list, although it’s a little smaller right now. His top offers include Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Houston, and Texas Tech.

The talented brothers have put together dynamic 2026 seasons for Kerrville Tivy. Through five games, Kenyon is the team’s leading receiver. He has hauled in 30 receptions for 781 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Kyren isn’t far behind. He has 29 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns to his own credit.

Each of the brothers also has an interception on the defensive side of the football. That side of the ball is where most people project Kyren to play at the next level.

Kenyon, meanwhile, has done his best work as the top target in a high-powered passing attack. Leading the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns through five games is a strong résumé for a player who is still flying under the radar on the major recruiting platforms.

Notre Dame has been here before with twins

Notre Dame is not new to recruiting twin brothers. Think back just a few years ago, when the Fighting Irish had Jayson and Justin Ademilola.

There is no telling whether the Armelin brothers are any sort of package deal. Plenty of twins end up taking different paths in their recruitment, and it is still very early in the process for the 2028 class.

If they do want to play together, however, Notre Dame already has one important box checked. The Irish have offered both of them, which isn’t the case for every program on their lists. Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Houston, and Texas Tech are the other schools that have done the same so far.

What comes next

It will be worth watching whether Notre Dame makes a strong push for the Armelin brothers as their offer lists continue to expand quickly. With rankings yet to arrive and production this strong through five games, the attention should only grow from here.

If they are a package deal, the twins certainly bring a lot of athletic tools for Notre Dame fans to get acquainted with. We will see how things play out as the 2028 cycle starts to heat up.
