Bengals fulfill expectations by bringing back reliable veteran a day after letting him go
The Cincinnati Bengals are adding to their initial practice squad by bringing back tight end Tanner Hudson. Cincinnati released Hudson in order to make room for offensive tackle and waiver claim Myles Hinton.

Per WLWT’s Charlie Clifford, Hudson is coming back to Cincinnati a day after being released.
Cincinnati successfully claimed former Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Myles Hinton off of waivers. Hudson was released to fit Hinton on the 53-man roster.
Bengals make the expected move to bring back Tanner Hudson
It was expected for the Bengals to bring Hudson back on the practice squad if he himself wanted to return. He first joined the club late in 2022 as a practice squad signing and has been on the roster since the middle of 2023. He’s played in 38 games with the team, catching 77 passes for 674 yards and four touchdowns.
Cincinnati has kept Hudson around as a natural fit in the offense since Day 1. At this point in his career, the 31-year-old may not find another scheme better more suited to his skillset. He knows he’s trusted by quarterback Joe Burrow and coach Zac Taylor. If an opportunity to play comes up, he’ll be called upon just like he was in 2023 when he eventually emerged as the primary receiving TE, leading the position with 39 receptions for 352 yards and a score.
It made all the sense in the world to bring him back to the locker room in some capacity. The Bengals can roster up to six vested veterans on their practice squad. Hudson will now be one of them.
More work to do for Cincy’s practice squad
Hudson will bring Cincinnati’s practice squad to 13 players. The initial list included 11 players who were just cut by the Bengals, so none of them needed to complete a physical before signing. The club is also adding former Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Garmon Randolph as a practice squad addition.
Cincinnati can sign three more players to its practice squad before hitting the 16-player maximum.
