Mike McDaniel literally and figuratively went the extra mile on his way home to troll Bills Mafia in the aftermath of Dolphins’ upset win over Buffalo
Talk about going the extra mile to get the last word in….
The Miami Dolphins‘ Week 10 win against the Buffalo Bills feels like it could be a breakthrough moment for the team. In the midst of a youth movement, Miami’s struggles may, potentially, have found their unifying moment where everything comes together. A 30-13 victory against a Bills team that has dominated Miami for most of this decade gives Miami plenty to feel good about. That goes for the players, the management, and the coaches.
Mike McDaniel, in particular, needed this one. On the heels of the win against Buffalo, a viral photo started making the rounds that depicted McDaniel sitting in his car at the intersection of ‘Elbo Room’, which is the destination that Bills fans congregate at annually for their fan-led “takeover” in South Florida.
McDaniel neither confirmed or denied a potential drive by. But it appears as though we have our answer. Yes — Mike McDaniel really did take the long way home on Sunday night.
Mike McDaniel did, indeed, take the long way home from work on Sunday to troll Bills Mafia at Elbo Room
The buzz around the photo made its way to McDaniel’s Monday press conference. McDaniel, in traditional Mike McDaniel fashion, offered a sly answer that wasn’t really an answer — lamenting that AI makes it hard to know what is real on the internet and what is not. But he did concede that he lives close by.
Close enough to take the scenic route home on Sunday afternoon, it seems!
It’s been a tough year for Miami. And it’s been a tough stretch for the Dolphins against Buffalo, who once again had a strong fan contingent in attendance at the Week 10 AFC East showdown. So in a year that’s fill of hard breaks, it’s difficult to hold it against McDaniel too much to relish this victory just a little more — even if it comes at the expense of trolling some of the Buffalo fans who made the trek to Elbo Room.
This time around, McDaniel is getting the last laugh. And now it’s up to him and his football team to ensure this isn’t the last time he gets a chance to do a post-win drive by against the Bills. His seat? Still hot. But less hot now than it was 36 hours ago for sure. They’ll need more wins to give McDaniel a chance at a repeat next year when the Bills come to town and that starts next Sunday in a game that is about as far from Elbo Room as you can get — in Madrid, Spain.
