One Miami Dolphins rookie piled onto his record-setting start in 24-19 loss to New England in Week 8

The Miami Dolphins’ rookie class has no shortage of contributors. But one in particular has piled several records on in the first half of his first season.

The Miami Dolphins‘ offensive performance against the New England Patriots in Week 8 was something of a disappointment. 19 points wasn’t enough to win — and neither was the erratic efforts of the 1st and 3rd quarters.

But even amid the shortcomings, one of the Miami Dolphins’ many rookies managed to etch his name into the franchise record book for the second time this season. Third round rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas can take a bow for his contributions in his four games of 2026.

Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas notches another franchise record in 24-19 loss to Patriots

In Week 1, Douglas logged 94 receiving yards — which matched Tyreek Hill for the most receiving yards in a debut game with the Miami Dolphins franchise. Impressive! Douglas was quiet the following week against the San Francisco 49ers, then missed time with an ankle injury suffered late against San Francisco. In his two games back in the lineup since Miami’s bye, Douglas has been productive enough to claim another franchise record.

After four catches for 43 yards against the Patriots, Douglas now ranks first in team history for the most receiving yards in a player’s first four games as an NFL player (226). The fact comes courtesy of the Dolphins communications department and highlights as productive as a rookie stretch as we’ve seen from a Dolphins rookie pass catcher. His numbers surpass 2021 rookie year Jaylen Waddle, 2019 rookie year Preston Williams, and the 204 yards posted by tight end Randy McMichael back in 2002.

The Dolphins will stand to get more and more action running through Douglas in the passing game. And the good news on that front is the team won’t draw many more impressive cornerback duos than Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis. So finding opportunities for Miami’s emergent rookie should be something we see more and more of. The lost games will ultimately cost Douglas a chance at some lofty numbers. But his efficiency per game is something that should continue to trend up.
