There is a lot of hype around the Oklahoma Sooners for their 2026 class, especially because of the run they have been on the last two months.

Yes, recruiting started slow for the Sooners and their 2026 class. For the longest time, Jaden O'Neal was one of their only commitments in the class, along with one or two other guys. Now, so much has changed that O'Neal has flipped to Florida State while the Sooners have landed four-star QB Bowe Bentley.

The last two weeks have been stellar on the recruiting front for the Sooners, too. They have landed so many good players, most of them four stars, and are predicted to land so many more. But, now it's the offensive line's turn, as OU is being cast to land one of the best OL in the 2026 class, and he fits right in.

Sooners predicted to land 2026 OL Deacon Schmitt

On Thursday, On3's Josh McCuistion put out a futures cast for the Sooners to land Schmitt.

Deacon Schmitt is a four-star offensive tackle from Windsor, Colorado, and one of the top football prospects in the Class of 2026, which is saying a lot when you look at some of the players in the class.

At 6’5” and 320 pounds, he’s a big, strong, and athletic player for Windsor High School, and already has some of the size to play at the next level. As a sophomore, he earned first-team all-conference honors, and he continued to excel in his junior year.

He’s received over 25 offers from major college football programs like Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Colorado. He’s narrowed his choices down, and it's really looking like OU would be the play. While he plays tackle now, some see him as a future interior lineman. He’s visited schools like Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Colorado in 2025. But it feels like his OU visit is the one that made the biggest impact on him.

Lately, it feels like all of their visits they are hosting are going great.
