The Oklahoma Sooners got a huge road win in The Swamp. OU, sitting at 4-4 with no chance of making the College Football Playoff, beat the No. 24-ranked Florida Gators on the road. And they played well on offense. Jason Witten coached one heck of a game.

This was one part of his audition to be the full-time OC for the Oklahoma Sooners moving forward. In many ways, he aced it. The offense looked good, even though it scored only 23 points.

All three phases of the game were good for Oklahoma, and Witten and company got the win. And that moment had to be special for him. But did anyone expect him to say what he said after?

“Tonight was pretty special. In all the years I’ve been around football, maybe the greatest moment I’ve had,” Witten told reporters after the win.

Jason Witten knows what it means to be a coach at Oklahoma

That’s saying a lot considering what this dude has done. He’s played in some huge games at Tennessee. He’s played in huge games with the Dallas Cowboys, and he’s broken NFL records. Not only that, but Witten will be a Hall of Famer and one of the greatest tight ends in the history of the sport.

But a coaching win as a coordinator in college football, improving your team to 5-4, is the biggest moment in your football life? That’s how much this means to Witten.

“As I was walking into the game tonight, I saw the 18-wheeler and written on it, ‘7 national titles, 50 conference championships…’ I understand the expectations here,” Witten said.

The Sooners still have three games left. Witten has three more chances to show what he can do against some good teams, too, in Ole Miss and Missouri. Ironically, both lost this week. But OU needs to see what they have in Witten as the OC. So, these last three games are very important.
