The Oklahoma Sooners found their quarterback for the 2025 season in John Mateer, but recruiting never stops. They have got to have their quarterback for after Mateer leaves, ready. Mateer is a junior this year and could leave for the NFL.
Of course, Michael Hawkins and Jett Niu are already on the roster, but who knows what will happen between now and then. They already have Jaden O'Neal committed, a four-star quarterback who is set to visit with Florida State and Clemson soon. They have Bowe Bentley, who just put Oklahoma in his top-three, and I'm sure they won't be stopping there.
In fact, they just landed in the top 10 of an elite 2026 quarterback who could be making his decision very soon. And, he has a pretty cool name.
Sooners land in top 10 of Legend Bey
Legend Bey is a high school football star from North Forney High School in Forney, Texas, graduating in 2026. He’s a quarterback who can run and throw, standing at 5’11” and 185 pounds. In his 2024 junior year, he ran for 1,912 yards and passed for 1,444 yards, scoring 41 total touchdowns.
His rushing stats topped all Dallas-area 6A players, and he had 20 rushing touchdowns in his first six games. He was named 10-6A Offensive MVP, helping North Forney go 9-3.
Bey transferred from Mesquite Horn to North Forney in 2024, teaming up with cornerback Ryan Gilbert. He’s fast—runs a 10.70-second 100-meter dash in track—and it shows with big plays like a 70-yard touchdown run. He’s a four-star recruit, ranked No. 68 in Texas and No. 42 among athletes nationally by 247Sports.
Nearly 30 colleges, including Oklahoma, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, Baylor, TCU, and Michigan State, have offered him scholarships. He wants to play quarterback in college and has visits planned to Notre Dame and Oklahoma in 2025. He’s got one more year to shine.
There's more to Legend than the cool name — he's a good football player, too. Getting him would allow the Sooners to have so many more options than they currently have.
Have the Oklahoma Sooners found their quarterback of the future with recent 2026 recruiting offer?
The Oklahoma Sooners have been looking for their quarterback of the future to take over the reigns from John Mateer in the near future. Mateer has two years of eligibility left, meaning that at most, the Sooners have until the 2027 to find the answer to that problem. They could have found it in their […]
