The Oklahoma Sooners lost a game to the Missouri Tigers that they should have won. In fact, they had the game won. After two straight scores, one offensive touchdown where Jackson Arnold played WR, and one defensive touchdown by Billy Bowman, the Sooners just had to get one stop to win the game.
And, they did. On third and 10 the Sooners got a stop, but a defensive holding was called. And, that holding didn't really look like holding. But, the Tigers used that and ended up scoring a tying touchdown on offense. And, guess who scored it? None other than former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Theo Wease Jr.
Wease Jr. played for the Sooners from 2019-2022. He was a pretty good receiver at OU but never finished with more than 530 yards in a season. Last year, his first with Missouri, he beat that by 100, and he's already beaten it this year.
But, this game was personal for Wease Jr. And, hey, more power to you. If that's what you have to use to get you going, use that. And, Wease had a great game, too, and made an incredible catch in the end zone.
After the game, he let all the Oklahoma fans at the game know. He went over to their section and waved them bye — told them to go home.
"You know this s— was personal," he told a former OU coach after the game with a hug.
The reality is, that he was the best wide receiver on the field on Saturday, even better than Luther Burden. The reality also is, that the Sooners could really use him this season. They haven't had any help from their wide receivers all year because they're either hurt or very inexperienced.
Congratulations to Wease Jr.
