Oklahoma Sooners’ final injury report vs. Alabama is going to be the latest example of a major difference between 2024 and 2025
The Oklahoma Sooners will have some big injuries heading into their game against Alabama.
The Oklahoma Sooners need this win over the Alabama Crimson Tide more than they need it over OU. We’ve said it a million times – win and you’re in the College Football Playoffs. Lose, and it’s pretty much impossible to get in. It doesn’t help that the Sooners have to travel to Tuscaloosa and play in one of the toughest environments there is on primetime TV.
It also doesn’t help that the injury report isn’t going their way this week.
Oklahoma Sooners’ final injury report is bad, but they’re prepared for it.
R Mason Thomas is one of the best players in the entire country. You can make a case that he’s the best edge rusher in the country, but there are certainly others out there who are also amazing. Unfortunately, the Sooners won’t have him on Saturday. Thomas was listed as questionable on the report all week until Friday, when he was listed as doubtful.
Defensive back Kendal Dolby is also listed as out, along with the other guys we pretty much knew and expected would be out. Defensive tackle Jayden Jackson is listed as questionable, and cornerback Gentry Williams is listed as doubtful.
The good thing is that the Sooners are prepared for these injury situations — much more prepared than they were last season. Sure, last season’s injuries were pretty crazy, and not something that you can really prepare for; however, it’s pretty clear this year’s depth is much better.
Taylor Wein is a guy who has really stepped up opposite Thomas and has been dominant this season. And behind Thomas, they have guys like PJ Adebawore, Danny Okoye, and Marvin Jones Jr. That’s got to be the best edge rusher group in the entire country, top to bottom, and one of the many examples this year that the Sooners are more prepared.
