Florida Gators expected to land elite wide receiver via the transfer portal who already knows the system in more ways than one
The Florida Gators are predicted to land Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. if he enters the transfer portal. He played for Buster Faulkner at Georgia Tech.
It took a while for the transfer portal to affect the Florida Gators, but once Jon Sumrall got things squared away, the floodgates opened, including the retention of wide receivers Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III.
It was bound to happen, especially with the oddity of not a single player entering between the firing of Billy Napier and the hiring of Sumrall. Since then, nearly 20 players have made their intentions known about entering the transfer portal, including quarterback DJ Lagway and wide receiver Tre Wilson.
Florida Gators projected to land elite pass catcher Eric Singleton Jr. in transfer portal
The Gators inked true freshman Vernell Brown III to a deal that will bring him back for his sophomore season. Shortly after, they also inked Dallas Wilson to a deal. With Tre Wilson leaving, there is a spot in the starting lineup the Gators need to fill.
Multiple sources tell A to Z Sports that former Auburn Tigers wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. is expected to enter the transfer portal and land with the Florida Gators. He would end up being a huge addition to the wide receiver room.
Singleton is an explosive receiver who thrived at Georgia Tech with Buster Faulkner in 2023 and 2024. He then transferred to Auburn for the 2025 season, and his production dipped a bit. In his three-year career, Singleton has caught 162 passes for 2,002 yards and 12 touchdowns, along with 36 rushes for 201 yards and a touchdown.
Adding the 5-10, 180-pound speedster to a unit that has a lot of explosiveness on the outside is a great idea for the Gators. He can play whatever role you need him to, which will be nice to have with Brown likely in the slot and Wilson at X-receiver. The continuity with Singleton and Faulkner will be invaluable for the 2026 Gators offense, along with the addition of wide receivers coach Marcus Davis from Auburn, where Singleton played in 2025.
The transfer portal doesn’t officially open until Jan. 2, but the Gators have a talented player already linked to Gainesville.
