OU has its eyes locked on another 2027 recruit who plays the same position as one of their best committed skill players
The Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 1 2027 recruiting class and are only trying to make it deeper with their recent offer.
The Oklahoma Sooners’ No. 1 class is good, but they are not satisfied. They appear to be locked onto another pretty good recruit. They just sent an offer to 2027 three-star RB Jakoby Dixon. This could mean two things for the Sooners, too.
One, this could just be their next RB in the class. They had two RBs in the last class and currently only have one, Keldrid Ben. They will need two before they head into the position, as this is a position group that usually uses its depth most. Last year, they went with a four-star in Hatton and then a three-star in Walker. This could be the second RB in the class to back up Ben.
Or this could be something completely different. Maybe this is a backup plan for something else?
Ben has still been taking visits with other teams despite being committed
Ben has been committed for a very long time and was one of the first ones to commit to the class. OU really, really likes him, and he loves OU. However, he is going to other schools, talking to other coaches, and being recruited heavily in ways that could rub some people the wrong way.
“[Things have] been great. God has been blessing me in many ways. [I’m just trying to keep my head on my shoulders, keep my head straight, maintain my grades, and just work,” Ben told Sooner Scoop. “[The visits] are just me taking another look at a school. I don’t see it as me decommitting or anything like that.
“I see it as me exploring other schools and taking those visits because I only get one chance. Just let them know what’s going on. No lies, no nothing. Just a man-to-man conversation. They tell me how they feel about it, and I just have to accept it. I know where my home is at the end of the day.”
Maybe this is nothing. Maybe Ben taking visits is something. You truly never know, because these are kids and they are still trying to figure all of this out as they go. Ben has taken six visits since November 29, 2025. But three of them are to Oklahoma, two to Florida, and one to Oregon. The only issue is that Ben has another one set up with Florida in the coming months.

- Ohio State
Just because the Sooners sent an offer to Dixon does not mean he will commit to them, though. The Texas native also has offers from Texas Tech and Texas A&M. And, as we said, maybe they land Dixon, and he’s just the second RB in the class.
