Latest buzz on 2027 5-star wide receiver target should have the Alabama Crimson Tide staff feeling good about its chances
Here is the latest on where things stand between the Alabama Crimson Tide and one of the top overall recruits in the 2027 class as official visits season carries on in Tuscaloosa.
The Alabama Crimson Tide has been busy at work the past two weekends, hosting a litany of high-profile recruits at the capstone as the Tide aims to put quality over quantity in its 2027 class.
So far, the returns have been fruitful, as Alabama secured a commitment from 4-star running back Nigel Newkirk after Weekend No.1, and this week, Alabama secured another commitment from 3-star running back Tai Phillips. But the Crimson Tide also wined and dined the best WR in the class during OV Weekend 1. How do things look on that end? We have some updated information.
Alabama 2027 recruiting class
- QB Elijah Haven (5-star)
- LB Kenneth Simon II (4-star)
- QB Trent Seaborn (4-star)
- RB Nigel Newkirk (4-star)
- DL Avrian “AJ” Pauley (3-star)

Latest on Alabama’s recruitment of 5-star WR Monshun Sales
“My prediction has been on Indiana since May 14 and I still feel pretty good about that projection. But a recent visit to Alabama certainly gave Sales a lot to think about and he has three more official visits mapped out. That begins with Ohio State this weekend and Texas is on the calendar for the weekend of June 19.”
“Rivals is also told Sales could take an official to LSU. Sales liked the Tigers early in his process and is now giving Lane Kiffin and the new staff a chance. Nothing is set yet per the Sales camp.” – Steve Wiltfong, Rivals-On3
The last we saw, Sales and his entire family were down in Tuscaloosa, looking like they were having the time of their life. It makes sense given that the family is native to the state, and Sales was impressed with the legacy and the reception he received at Alabama.
While his official visit was underway, the Elite 11 finals were also taking place, and two 2027 Alabama QB commits, Trent Seaborn and Elijah Haven, even made recruiting pitches for the talented 5-star from Indiana.
As Wiltfong alluded to, Sales still has multiple visits with top-tier programs left on his schedule, so this process could take some time. Alabama just hopes he ends up back at home.
