Oklahoma Sooners have more drama headed their way as they dismiss a freshman playmaker from the team before playing the Texas Longhorns
The Oklahoma Sooners dismissed freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers just before playing Texas.
The Oklahoma Sooners enter the week as massive underdogs in the Red River Rivalry. That’s been the case for a few years now, as the Texas Longhorns have dominated OU. And now, more drama is on the menu this week.
According to Soonerscoop.com, the Sooners have dismissed freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers. The former Penn State commit that Oklahoma flipped has played in just four games this season. He hasn’t been a threat on offense, even when he’s played snaps. So, while they may need all the help they can get offensively this week, they won’t miss much of what they once had.
There are currently no reports as to why Rogers is being dismissed. There may be no information about the situation. If there is any, it could be head coach Brent Venables addressing it professionally. You would likely hear phrases like, “We are keeping that in-house; we wish him the best.”
Rogers was a four-star wide receiver coming in, and a guy that many thought could be of use to OU early. But he’s not done much; then again, the Sooners as a whole haven’t done much. Rogers did, though, have four catches for 70 yards in the spring game. So, the expectations were kind of there.
Sooners have more drama than just the dismissal of freshman WR Jahsiear Rogers
The Sooners have everyone’s attention right now. And it’s not really for good reasons. Head coach Brent Venables is definitely on the hot seat within the fan base. On his staff, OC Ben Arbuckle and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh are also in the hot seat.
Coming into this game, Venables has said he’s disappointed in the offensive line. He said he has been for some time now. So, there’s drama everywhere. Not only that, but if they don’t compete well against Texas, major things could happen within this program and shake things up.
