Less than a year into Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall’s tenure, he has recruited at a very high level. The Gators have a whopping 25 commitments in the class of 2027, with defensive lineman Stive-Bentley Keumajou Yondui having reclassified to 2026. They have 17 blue-chip recruits, which is tied for third in the nation.

The top recruit in the class of 2026 is five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. He’s currently the No. 2 overall recruit in the class of 2026, and the No. 1 offensive lineman. He committed back in April, but that hasn’t stopped multiple teams from trying to court him.

Maxwell Hiller is firm in his commitment to Florida Gators

Early last week, Gators Online’s Corey Bender reported that Hiller was still being courted by the Tennessee Volunteers and LSU Tigers. He also mentioned the possibility of making another visit durihng his recruiting process.

That could spell something bad for the Gators, but Rivals caught up with him on Sunday and he was still firm in his commitment.

“Those are definitely the schools I hear from the most other than Florida, but I don’t see myself doing anything with it,” said Hiller.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Hiller or any other player take a free visit to another school. Even so, it’s not expected to make a difference. The impact the Gators have had on Hiller is evident, as he loves the university.

“Everything,” Hiller said about what stands out about Florida. “The culture they’re building down there, the family aspect and how I know all the guys down there and how the puzzle pieces fit together.”

There shouldn’t be anything to be concerned about for the Gators, especially since Hiller is the top recruit in the class of 2026. Still, until the letter of intent is signed, this will loom over the Gators.
