Notre Dame football recruiting is set for another massive recruiting weekend with several talented 2027 targets visiting South Bend for the Blue-Gold Game. Among that long list of talented players making the trip, 2027 Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban star linebacker Brayton Feister is one of the more unique talents in his class.

Feister heads into the visit as an extremely intriguing football player. As Steve Wiltfong from On3/Rivals reported, other programs like Oregon, Georgia, and Cal are in the fold, and many believe that the Ducks are the leader right now. That makes this an extremely interesting opportunity for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish staff. It could end up being a make-or-break chance for the program.

When Notre Dame offered Feister a few months ago, they quickly put themselves in solid standing and were considered to be an early contender. When Al Washington left to take a position with the Miami Dolphins, things started to fade with the Ohio standout. New linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary has been building up that relationship this offseason, and now there is a pivotal chance to try to set yourself up for pulling a bit of an upset in the end.

Brayton Feister’s recruiting background

Feister is considered to be a consensus four-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, the Ohio native is currently rated as the No. 130 overall player, the No. 7 athlete, and the No. 45 player from the state of Ohio for the 2027 recruiting class. Each of the major recruiting platforms has Feister rated inside the top-200 players in the class.

Even before Feister saw an uptick in his rankings early this offseason, several of the top programs in all of college football were pursuing him. Some of his top offers currently include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, USC, Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Missouri, Pitt, Boston College, Arizona State, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia, SMU, Cincinnati, Maryland, Cal, UCLA, and Purdue, among several others.

As a junior in 2025 for Archbishop Hoban, Feister put together a dominant campaign. In 12 games, the 6-3, 230-pound athlete managed to collect 133 total tackles, 39 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions. On offense, Feister also rushed for 1,098 yards and 17 touchdowns on just 116 carries, an average of 9.5 yards per carry. This is a dynamic two-way athlete with outstanding overall upside.
