The Oklahoma Sooners are back in Norman, Oklahoma, on Saturday. And they need this home game after a brutal road loss to the Michigan Wolverines. They have to get back on track, and the New Mexico Lobos could be a good way to do that.
But more is at stake than just getting back on track. More is at stake than pleasing the fans and looking like a competent team. In fact, this is an absolutely loaded recruiting weekend for the Sooners. The Palace will be packed with five-stars and elite 2027, 2028, and 2029 recruits from all over the country. And losing to, or looking bad against, a team like New Mexico, with all due respect, would be terrible for recruiting. What’s the best way to improve recruiting today? Winning.
Oklahoma Sooners to have a ton of recruits on game day visits
Oklahoma will host top prospects from the 2027 class this weekend, including five-star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett, five-star cornerback Gabe Osborne Jr., linebacker Cooper Witten, and lineman Kaeden Penny, plus several Rivals300 names. Noah Smith, a notable 2027 QB, is also set to visit.
Oklahoma’s 2028 class will be represented as well, with early commits Trey Tagliaferri and Connor Arant among the visitors. Defensive standouts like Kellan Hall, who is one of the best players in the entire 2028 class, Logan Lokey, and Eddie Dennis are also scheduled to attend.
Top EDGE prospects and linebackers from the 2028 class, including Cassell Cruickshank, Major Stokes, David Dotson, Tylan Henderson, and Jay Schell, will be on campus, along with local linebacker Cimone Scarborough. Saturday’s group includes a strong crop of receivers, with Dedrick Kimbrough and Kenyon Sweat among the headliners. Other notable pass-catchers expected are Colton Fitzgibbon, Dominique Coursey, Jaiden Wines, and Carson Fields.
The Sooners are going all in for recruiting this weekend. So, they have to make it count. They just upped the ante.
