The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Indianapolis Colts on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 2.

The team had a few injuries to monitor heading into the game. They ruled out LT Josh Simmons and SS Chamarri Conner on Friday, but they also deemed CB Mansoor Delane and DT Chris Jones questionable. Delane is dealing with the shoulder injury suffered during Week 1’s game. Jones is dealing with a calf injury that flared up in practice ahead of Week 1.

Here’s the latest news on both players ahead of Sunday night.

Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones expected to play through calf injury again

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jones is expected to be “good to go” on Sunday night. Jones played through the calf injury in Week 1, playing 51% of the team’s defensive snaps. He recorded one total tackle, a fumble recovery, and three pressures. He was no worse off for that snap total, but this injury has lingered.

The big thing to worry about with a calf injury is the impact it has on the Achilles. The two are sometimes linked, and calf injuries can sometimes precede Achilles injuries if not handled properly. The good news here is that this isn’t the first time Jones and the Chiefs’ training staff has dealt with this specific injury. He dealt with a calf injury in both 2024 and 2019.

Kansas City Chiefs rookie CB Mansoor Delane considered a game-time decision

The shoulder injury for Chiefs CB Mansoor Delane has been a little unique. He had imaging done on it after exiting the game last Monday night. Those tests came back negative for sprains, fractures, and so on. Yet, this injury still seems to be lingering.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid was optimistic about Mansoor Delane’s status at the start of the week after Delane fully participated in practice Wednesday and Thursday. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo says regarding Delane: “He was downgraded to limited on Friday. It sounds like this is going to be more of a game-time decision for him.”

I think the big concern here is that it’s unclear what exactly is ailing Delane’s shoulder right now. He dealt with numbness after his Week 1 interception. We know it’s not the same fracture injury he dealt with during the spring. But it feels like this is something the team and player has to keep working through. It also feels like something that might need more investigation to find the root cause of the discomfort, numbness, and lack of strength.
