Updated Kansas City Chiefs 2027 NFL Draft picks following the trade sending Wanya Morris to the Atlanta Falcons
A look at the Kansas City Chiefs’ updated picks in the 2027 NFL Draft after the trade shipping Wanya Morris to the Atlanta Falcons became official.
The Kansas City Chiefs have completed the trade sending OT Wanya Morris to the Atlanta Falcons.
According to the NFL’s personnel notice for Friday, June 12, the Chiefs have officially shipped Morris to the Falcons. The team acted quickly after news broke that Morris had requested a trade away from the team. It’s a true win-win trade, as Morris will get a chance to compete and play in Atlanta. Kansas City, in return, upgrades from a 2027 seventh-round pick to a 2027 sixth-round pick.
The league says the pick that the Chiefs will send is via the New York Jets, which K.C. received as part of the conditions for the Derrick Nnadi trade. Where does that leave the team in terms of official 2027 NFL Draft capital?
Updated list of Kansas City Chiefs’ picks in the 2027 NFL Draft
There are a few notable trades to recall in this situation. As things currently stand, the Chiefs do not have any seventh-round draft picks. One of those picks went to the San Francisco 49ers in the Skyy Moore trade. The other, which was obtained from the New York Jets in the Derrick Nnadi trade, was just shipped off to Atlanta. The Chiefs sent a 2027 conditional sixth-round pick to the Jets in the Derrick Nnadi trade. K.C. also sent a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Jets in the Justin Fields trade.
Chiefs’ 2027 NFL Draft Picks After Wanya Morris trade
The Chiefs currently have seven picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.
- Round 1
- Round 2
- Round 3
- Round 3 (via Los Angeles Rams for Trent McDuffie)
- Round 4
- Round 5
- Round 6 (via Atlanta Falcons for Wanya Morris)
The Chiefs are projected to receive as many as three compensatory picks in the 2027 NFL Draft. According to the folks at OverTheCap, the Chiefs could receive two seventh-round picks for DE Charles Omenihu (Commanders) and WR Hollywood Brown (Eagles). They’re also expected to receive a fourth-round draft pick for CB Jaylen Watson (Rams). When it’s all said and done, Brett Veach could have 10 draft picks to play with without making another move. We all know that won’t be the case, though.
