Broncos CB Pat Surtain II was named an option to participate in something no NFL player ever thought they'd get the chance to do

The Denver Broncos, without a doubt, feel that they have the best corner in the NFL on their side in Pat Surtain II.
He demonstrated this and more last season by earning the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year award for his outstanding efforts. And it seems that some think his skill would translate to an even bigger stage than the NFL, if given the chance, at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
ESPN names Pat Surtain as a top option to represent the USA in the 2028 Olympics on their flag football team
"Necessary skills: Field vision, pattern matching, transition speed, ball skills
The prototype at the position, Surtain has the speed and high-level technique to match up with the world's best pass catchers. More importantly, he's a long coverage corner who can pattern-match from an off-position, as the "no contact" rule in flag football eliminates the ability to play press coverage.
In four pro seasons with the Broncos, Surtain has 11 interceptions and 39 pass breakups. He could be a defensive game-changer for Team USA."
– ESPN's Building the best 2028 Olympics U.S. flag football roster
ESPN's Matt Bowen built his ideal United States Flag Football roster for the 2028 Olympics. He named five defensive players: Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons, Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter, Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Cooper DeJean, Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr., and Broncos star CB Pat Surtain. By 2028, Surtain would be 28 years old and should still be in his prime, and if he continues the dominance we saw in 2024, he could be viewed as a legendary corner in the NFL's history. So, even if some younger options emerge by then, you would think Surtain would get the chance to claim that spot if he wants it. Hopefully, by then, Surtain will have led the Broncos' defense to a Super Bowl victory, so it would be fitting for him also to want to add a gold medal to his list of accomplishments.
Broncos rookie named the team’s biggest surprise player from OTAs and has positioned himself to compete for a larger role
The Denver Broncos are looking to build on a strong 2024 season, during which the team was part of the AFC playoff field. The team has already been hard at work preparing for their upcoming training camp and, of course, the 2025 season. One of their 2025 rookies is already made a strong impression during […]
