The Tennessee Vols have found some early offseason success in the NCAA transfer portal by landing Maryland transfer guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie and Vanderbilt transfer forward Jaylen Carey.
And Tennessee could soon be landing another big addition.
The Vols are one of six programs still in the mix to land Gillespie's former teammate at Maryland, guard Rodney Rice.
Rice announced a final six on Thursday that includes Maryland, Villanova, Auburn, USC, and Gonzaga.
The coveted transfer guard is set to visit Villanova this week before heading to Tennessee for a visit that will get underway on Saturday.
Rice, 6-foot-4/198 lbs from Clinton, MD, averaged 13.8 points per game for the Terrapins last season.
On3's Pete Nakos made a prediction earlier this week for Tennessee to land Rice, though his confidence in that prediction was "low".
