The Los Angeles Rams have been a frequent selection to take a quarterback in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, with a few mocks seeing them select Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss or Alabama's Jalen Milroe.
Sean McVay might have just thrown cold water on that theory for this class. In a recent interview with Jacksonville Jaguars on SI, McVay says he "feels good about the state of the quarterback room.
"I think that's unlikely. I'll be honest with you, I haven't done a whole lot of work on the quarterbacks. I feel really good about where our quarterback room is, even though we're not naive to the fact that Matthew's hopefully got a couple more years that he wants to play, but he's also earned the right to say 'After this year, I'm going to go ahead and hang them up.' But I'm hopeful that's not the case, but I haven't done enough work to really have an educated opinion on that. That's not something I would see us going – but maybe not, huh?"
The Rams have drafted just three quarterbacks under Les Snead: Garrett Gilbert, Jared Goff, and Stetson Bennett. Bennett is still on the team, backing up Matthew Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo as the team's QB3.
McVay could be playing coy and keeping his cards close to his chest, but the Rams have never shied away from being open and honest about how they feel about the draft and players.
Given their multiple needs at other positions and the fact that the Rams have two quarterbacks they clearly trust, I'm not surprised that they haven't done much work on this class. It's a bad crop of quarterbacks this year. If you aren't getting one of Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, you might as well punt for another year.
This is classic smokescreen season, of course, so McVay could be throwing a fake here. But I doubt it.
