The Las Vegas Raiders were set to pick at No. 37 in the 2025 NFL Draft when Day 2 started. But things changed very quickly.
Before the draft started on Day 2, the Raiders felt the need to make some changes to their roster, with fans thinking this could be hinting at who the team would target on Day 2, but after a crazy second round, it seems like no one truly knows what the Raiders plan on doing in this draft.
Before the draft, though, they waived a few players. Here are the players that the Raiders' PR Team tweeted out that were being waived prior to the Raiders drafting on Friday.
– CB M.J. Devonshire
– WR Ramel Keyton
– DT Tyler Manoa
– LB Kana’i Mauga
– LB Jackson Mitchell
– RB Isaiah Spiller
The Raiders drafted M.J. Devonshire last season late on Day 3, and he played some pretty valuable snaps last season after the Raiders dealt with a ton of injuries in their secondary. He wasn't that bad for a seventh-round rookie thrown into the fire. In fact, he was projected as a second-string backup somewhere in the secondary for the 2025 season. He is now waived, and I'm assuming if he clears waivers, the Raiders will be bringing him back.
The other release that stands out to me is wide receiver Ramel Keyton, who, with the way the roster is just before the draft, was slated to be the WR3 with no additions to the roster. He has been waived and will also be a guy that the Raiders will look to bring back if they can. They don't have a ton of bodies in that room to compete in training camp, so if Keyton, a UDFA from last season, clears waivers, I believe he will be back for camp.
The Raiders are making moves, gaining picks with trades from the Miami Dolphins. The 2025 NFL draft weekend has been something to watch so far.
