When you think of the USC Trojans under head coach Lincoln Riley, you think of offense, offense, and more offense. It’s almost to a fault. The team has had some explosive offensive playmakers over the years. That includes the likes of wide receivers Jordan Addison, Brenden Rice, Tahj Washington, and Zachariah Branch

While USC said goodbye to a couple of talented pass catcher this past offseason, wide receiver should once again be a major strength next season. The duo of J’Kobi Lane and Makai Lemon has fans buzzing for the potential of 2025. As is typically the case under Coach Riley, this offensive staff does have their eyes open to the potential of adding even more talent.

The Trojans are among a couple of the early destinations to know for former Syracuse wide receiver Trebor Pena, who entered the transfer portal recently. USC is expecting to receive a visit from Pena in the near future. Both Miami and UCLA are also early schools to watch for the talented wideout.

Pena put together a breakout season in 2024 after being injured the year prior. In 13 games, he hauled in 84 receptions for 941 yards and nine touchdowns. He also added another 72 yards and another score on the ground, while serving as the team’s main punt returner.

The 6-0, 185-pound pass catcher makes a lot of his plays out of the slot, excelling in tight areas and as a route runner. Pena is also a very smooth athlete who has the spatial awareness to make the first person miss after the catch. His long speed is just solid so Pena won’t hit a ton of home runs, but he will hit a lot of singles and doubles, with the occasional triple.

In the USC offense, Pena would be a really easy fit. Lane is the tall outside wide receiver, while Lemon can play a bit all over the place. That potential trio is one of the more promising in all of college football.  There would be a lot to be excited about for the potential of bringing in a dependable high volume target like Pena.

Between the Bruins and Hurricanes, Miami is the biggest threats right now for Pena. Their wide receiver room is in a really bad place, and they are willing to pay a lot of money to fix it. Wide receiver as talented and productive don’t typically become available during the spring portal.
