Dallas Cowboys injury tracker ahead of mandatory minicamp: Who's in, who's out, and when will DeMarvion Overshown return?

The Dallas Cowboys aren't completely healthy, like most NFL teams even in this time of the year. With mandatory minicamp set to begin Tuesday, multiple players are likely to work with the rehab group, each with a different issue they're working through. All of them have different timetables to return, too. So before minicamp begins, I put together […]

The Dallas Cowboys aren't completely healthy, like most NFL teams even in this time of the year.

With mandatory minicamp set to begin Tuesday, multiple players are likely to work with the rehab group, each with a different issue they're working through. All of them have different timetables to return, too.

So before minicamp begins, I put together an injury tracker for fans to know who's in, who's out, and who will have to miss playing time this regular season.

CB Trevon Diggs

  • Where they will likely start the season: PUP, back by Week 5

Trevon Diggs is expected to miss the start of the season after suffering another season-ending knee injury in 2024, per multiple reports. Since he hasn't been at OTAs while rehabbing away from the team, it's difficult to know where he's at. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer recently told the media things were going well.

My best guess is he will start on PUP, which would require him to miss a minimum of four games before returning.

CB Shavon Revel Jr.

  • Where he will likely start the season: 53-man roster

The Cowboys' third-round rookie is expected to be ready to go at some point during training camp, with the biggest question being how long it will take him to feel like himself after barely playing in 2024 (three games). He isn't considered to be in danger of missing the start of the season.

LB DeMarvion Overshown

  • Where he will likely start the season: IR, projected return Thanksgiving

Overshown is admittedly looking at Week 13's Thanksgiving showdown versus the Kansas City Chiefs as his return game. It's a shame he's expected to miss that much playing time after suffering a brutal knee injury last year in which he tore his three ligaments. But after a remarkable 2024 season, he and the Cowboys know he's a keeper for the long term. Being safe is the way to go to ensure Overshown can play for years to come.

CB Caelen Carson

  • Where he will likely start the season: 53-man roster

Carson worked with the rehab group early in OTAs but he closed said phase of the offseason by getting more action in practice, per Nick Harris from the Forth Worth Star-Telegram. According to Harris, he looks "fully recovered. Naturally, that means he should be ready to go for mandatory minicamp and later, training camp.

EDGE Sam Williams, S Donovan Wilson

  • Where they will likely start the season: 53-man roster

Similarly to Carson, these two are in an upward trajectory, working with the rehab group for most of OTAs before seeing increased action in the final week. Expect them to be ready by the season. Minicamp will provide a better gauge of their health.
