If you live in KC and are a Kansas City Chiefs fan, you're also likely a Kansas City Royals fan, and that means you know exactly what happened late Sunday night — some of the best news in Kansas City in quite some time.

Sorry, but this is one of the more dead periods of the offseason in the NFL, so many of us are keeping our eyes glued to other sports to stay sane, and one of those is the Royals. And, if you've been watching the Royals, you know that they have been in desperate need of another bat. They are going to get just that here pretty soon.

On Sunday, the Royals called up Jac Caglianone.

Kansas City Royals call up Jac Caglianone

Jac Caglianone, the Royals’ No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, started his minor league career strongly in 2024 and 2025. After starring as a two-way player at the University of Florida, he focused on hitting as a first baseman and outfielder in the minors. In 2024, he played 29 games at High-A Quad Cities, batting .241 with two home runs. But boy, have things changed since then.

In 2025, Caglianone excelled at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, hitting .322 with nine home runs and 43 RBIs in 38 games, with a 21% strikeout rate and 11% walk rate. He was quickly promoted to Triple-A in Omaha on May 18, where he hit .326 with six home runs and 13 RBIs in 11 games. So, he was in Triple-A for even less time than he was in Double-A, because on Sunday, he was called up.

Caglianone is the one guy that everyone has been waiting to see, and that includes Patrick Mahomes, who responded to the tweet notification that Caglianone was called up in the perfect way possible. Mahomes took to Twitter with a GIF from the office, where Michael Scott is running around the office yelling.

And, that's about how all Royals fans and media feel because we knew it would happen here very soon, we just didn't know exactly when. And the part-owner of the Royals seems to be pretty excited.
