The shocker here is Minkah Fitzpatrick. The heart and soul of the Steelers secondary, losing him could come with a big cost in multiple ways. Minkah not only sorted out the defense and was a vocal team leader, he was the man the Steelers relied on when they needed a play.
However, a simple look at his production over the last few years proves that Fitzpatrick, who was once one of the league's best ball hawks, has taken a step back from his playmaking abilities.
After recording 12 interceptions in his first three seasons with the Steelers, Minkah has only logged 1 in the last two seasons. Part of that is due to injury and playing out of position, but part of it is due to erosion of skill, quite possibly.
That being said, trading a beloved star, and the heart and soul of your defense in exchange for a great, but also aging superstar and a TE is a risky move from Omar Khan. Jonnu Smith is a good player, and he will make the offense better, but this a TE #2 we are talking about after all.
So in the end, it's a good move for the Steelers on paper. But if Ramsey doesn't produce and the team falters, it's going to get hot in the kitchen for Khan.
