The Tennessee Vols are one of three schools still in the mix for 2026 four-star athlete Sequel Patterson.
Patterson named Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina as his top three schools on Monday.
The four-star recruit reclassified to the 2026 recruiting class earlier this month.
Patterson, 6-foot/165 lbs from Fort Mill, SC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 13 athlete in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of South Carolina. He's also rated as the No. 189 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
Scouting report via 247Sports: Super-charged utilityman that could play wide receiver or defensive back on Saturdays with his quickness, agility and balance. Owns high-end ball skills and can make acrobatic grabs on both sides of the ball with his well-timed jumps. Not the biggest or longest individual, but has flashed the ability to beat press coverage on offense with his wiry strength and has proven to be a willing face-up tackler on defense. Could certainly settle in as a field corner with his route recognition and fluid transitions, but the ceiling might be higher as a pass catcher as he can not only run underneath deep shots, but also produce chunk plays in the perimeter game with his out-the-gate burst and take-it-the-distance vision. Likely going to need a few semesters to get adjusted to the pace and physicality of the collegiate game, but projects as a potential impact player for a Power Four program that should add plenty of special teams value with his wide-ranging skill set.
Patterson likely would've been a five-star recruit in the 2027 recruiting class had he not reclassified, so he's definitely a player that would be nice for the Vols to land.
For now, though, South Carolina is viewed as the favorite to land the talented athlete.
Tennessee, however, will continue to recruit Patterson in hopes of convincing him that Rocky Top is the best spot for him.
