When DK Metcalf joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, many were enthralled.

However, one player that immediately came into the spotlight was George Pickens and his future

Well according to DK Metcalf, the two can coexist, even if their personalities seem like they will clash…

DK Metcalf excited to play with George Pickens

"Yes, football is the ultimate team game first off, so you shouldn't be on a team if everybody doesn't want the football," said Metcalf of the dynamics with Pickens. "I will say that. Just to come into this organization, just to know George from the little conversations that we had in passing, great player, watching from afar. The receiver coach calls him "freak show," and I think that's a fitting name for him with the circus catches that he makes…

"…But I'm just here to try to instill any wisdom or any knowledge that he allows me to, and vice versa. I feel like there's some things that I can learn from him that he does, and like you said, I've played with great receivers like Tyler Lockett, Freddie Swain, Josh Gordon was on the team my rookie year. So I've been around some very talented receivers to where I knew how to take a backseat and learn from guys like that. I'm willing to do the same if the case may be that here."

The question isn't whether or not Pickens and Metcalf can play together. We're talking about two of the most physically dominant WRs to grace the NFL. The problem is, both of them tend to wear their emotions on their sleeves

So much so, that the two most penalized WRs in the league are, well, you guessed it: DK Metcalf and George Pickens.

So with two players of similar skill and emotions, many have pondered not if but when Pickens leaves town.

Heading into the final year of his deal and with what is sure to be a strong market no matter how much of a headache he's been, the murmurs were always going to happen.

But Pittsburgh's whole goal has been addition, not subtraction when it comes to the WR room. So is Pickens likely to be in Pittsburgh for the long haul after a contract of the magnitude that Metcalf received?

Probably not.

But trading him before the 2025 NFL season doesn't make a lot of sense for a team that is all in on winning a championship in 2025.
