The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing back a familiar face.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane, Philly is signing offensive lineman Matt Pryor for free agency in the NFL.
"OL Matt Pryor is returning to the #Eagles on a one-year deal, an NFL source said," McLane writes on X.
McLane also notes the versatility that Pryor brings to the table.
"Updated tweet to reflect Pryor being able to play both tackle and guard, although it’s been more of the latter in recent seasons," McLane added.
Pryor, 30, was originally a sixth-round pick out of TCU by the Eagles in 2018. He spent his first three seasons with the Birds before he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. He moved on to the San Franciso 49ers in 2023 and joined the Chicago Bears last year.
In seven seasons so far, Pryor has appeared in 92 games with 39 starts. He has played 427 at left tackle, 107 at left guard, 1,570 at right guard, and 718 at right tackle.
Pryor is coming off a 2024 season where he played 1,005 total snaps between right tackle (59), left tackle (1), right guard (895), and left guard (49). He earned a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 69.9 after allowing just seven sacks and zero quarterback hits. He also finished with a 78.1 pass blocking grade.
This move is a solid one after the Eagles lost starting right guard Mekhi Becton and veteran swing tackle Fred Johnson to NFL free agency.
Expect similar signings to be made as the Eagles look to rebuild their offensive line depth.
