A position group that isn't getting nearly enough attention as it pertains to the NFL Draft and free agency for the Pittsburgh Steelers is the defensive line.
A core tenet in the philosophy of Steelers football, the team will always look to replisnish their trenches before attacking skill groupings.
That was confirmed by Omar Khan just minutes after a big name was floated as a potential trade asset…
Steelers to attack defensive line this offseason
"We know we weren't good enough down the stretch. Fortunately, we have the resources from a cap standpoint to address and maybe in free agency, said Omar Khan when asked about the defensive line during Tuesday's media session at the NFL Combine. "And, there's maybe some trade candidates out there. And this draft is a really good draft for the defensive line."
The comments came just minutes after it was reported that the Washington Commanders are engaged with trade talks regarding star defensive lineman Jonathan Allen.
The Commanders have had trade conversations centered around Pro Bowl DL Jonathan Allen, sources say. Washington plans to do right by the player & Allen’s camp is involved in helping him land at the right spot — either via trade or free agency. He has one year left at $15M.

Allen just turned 30 and is coming off an injury-riddled 2024 season, but the two-time Pro Bowler provides plug and play level of stature and would be a perfect replacement for Larry Ogunjobi who likely sees the writing on the wall at this point regarding his Steelers' future.
And as Khan said, this draft is loaded at the defensive line position. Not nearly enough people are mocking that position to the Steelers at 21. Names like Deone Walker and Walter Nolen are major players to watch, as well as a potential free agent signing.
