The Philadelphia Eagles will have to do more than replace offensive coordinator Kellen Moore this offseason.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the New Orleans Saints are close to hiring Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier as their next offensive coordinator under Moore.
"I’m told the #Saints are currently working to finalize a deal with #Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier to become the team’s next offensive coordinator, per league source," Anderson writes on X/Twitter.
This isn't much of a surprise considering Nussmeier worked closely with Moore at the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers before joining him in Philly last offseason.
Nussmeier was responsible for helping Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts get back on track after a disastrous 2023 season and he did not disappoint.
Hurts finished the 2024 season with a 103.7 passer rating after throwing for 2,903 yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. He topped off a great season with his first championship victory and a Super Bowl MVP award.
It will be a full-circle moment for Nussmeier because as a former quarterback himself, he was selected out of Idaho by the Saints in the fourth round of the 1994 NFL Draft.
