The Philadelphia Eagles lost offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the New Orleans Saints' vacant head coaching job earlier this week.
And now they could also be in danger of losing their secondary coach, Christian Parker, to New Orleans.
According to NFL insider Albert Breer, the Saints are interviewing Parker for their defensive coordinator job.
"Eagles DBs coach Christian Parker for their defensive coordinator job today, per source," Breer wrote on X/Twitter. "They met with Vikings DBs coach Daronte Jones yesterday. This, obviously, will be a big hire for Kellen Moore's 1st staff."
As if losing Moore wasn't already a huge loss, losing Parker would be heartbreaking for an Eagles secondary that thrived this past season.
Parker, 33, was a key reason why Eagles' rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean made the transition from college football to the NFL look so easy and both finished the year as Defensive Rookie of the Year finalists.
He also helped take the Eagles from the 30th-ranked passing defense in 2023 to the NFL’s No. 1 passing defense in 2024.
Before he joined Philly last offseason, Parker had previously worked with Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio at the Denver Broncos.
"Christian Parker is highly respected around the league," head coach Nick Sirianni said after hiring him. "I don’t know how old he is exactly, but to understand he has this type of respect attached to his name because of the product he’s put on the field, and obviously Vic has worked with him so really excited, and I know our defensive backs are really excited as well."
The Saints are also reportedly interviewing San Francisco 49ers assistant head coach and defense Brandon Staley and Minnesota Vikings defensive passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Daronte Jones.
