The Chicago Bears enter the 2025 offseason with a lot of work to do and a lot of high expectations, but as we learned in 2024, it doesn't matter what you do or how high the expectations are if you don't show up.

And the Bears could have a chance to do that and prove themselves to open the 2025 season and kick off the Ben Johnson Era.

Following the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl LIX win, we now know the list of teams who could face the defending champs in Week 1 on Thursday Night Football, and the Bears are one of the eight possible opponents.

Booking the Bears as the first opponent to face the new Super Bowl Champs would be an incredible opening game for the league. The Bears have a lot of excitement brewing after hiring head coach Ben Johnson and pairing him with quarterback Caleb Williams going into his second season.

But, looking at that list of potential teams above, I could see the league going with the NFC Championship rematch against the Washington Commanders or putting the NFC's #1 seed in the Detroit Lions up against the Eagles before choosing Chicago.

Nevertheless, at some point, the Bears will have to face the Eagles in Philadelphia and that game will be a major statement opportunity. If the Bears could get that game out of the way in Week 1, and even pull off an upset to start the season, it would be a major morale boost for the remainder of the season.

Overall, the Bears are slated to have an incredibly tough schedule in 2025 once it fully releases. Right now, we know Chicago will face seven 2024 playoff teams and teams such as the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, who have proven to be juggernauts in the past.

This upcoming season will be a massive challenge for Ben Johnson's first year as a head coach. But, another word for challenge is opportunity and Johnson will have his team prepared no matter which opponent stands across from them.

"The bar has been set higher than it's ever been set before," Johnson said during his introductory press conference. "The only way for this team, and as individual players, to reach your potential is to be pushed and to be challenged. That's exactly what I and my staff plan on doing. We're going to push, we're going to challenge. And along with those high standards there's also going to be a high level of support as well."
