The Texas Longhorns were hoping to become the new RBU as an NFL pipeline after sending Bijan Robinson, Jonathon Brooks, and Roschon Johnson to the league in the last couple of years. Jaydon Blue was the latest addition in the 2025 class.

However, only Robinson has been a hit in that time span. The Carolina Panthers thought they had the top back in the 2024 class in Brooks and invested the 46th overall pick in him. But coming off a torn ACL proved difficult for the 21-year-old.

Registering only nine carries for 22 yards in three games, Brooks suffered another torn ACL in Week 14. On Thursday, he got more bad news.

He was placed on the PUP list and will miss the entire 2025 season.

Brooks exploded onto the scene in Austin in 2023 with 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns in 11 games. The smooth-moving slasher had tremendous acceleration up to a respectable top speed.

Injuries to his knees will cast doubt as to whether he'll ever regain that level of explosiveness or if he can consistently become the x-factor Carolina had hoped. The Panthers have seemingly moved on, adding Rico Dowdle and Trevor Etienne to a stable that already had Chuba Hubbard.
