The fallout from the parting of ways between quarterback Nico Iamaleava and the Tennessee Vols continued this week.
Late Friday night, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that UCLA Bruins redshirt freshman quarterback Dermaricus Davis is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Davis' decision to enter the transfer portal comes after Iamaleava's recent commitment to UCLA. Additionally, Iamaleava's younger brother, Madden, is also expected to transfer from Arkansas to UCLA (though that move hasn't been officially announced yet).
Davis, who didn't see any action for the Bruins as a true freshman in 2024, is a former four-star recruit from Rancho Cucamonga, CA who was rated as the No. 17 quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class.
This is the third quarterback that UCLA has lost to the portal since landing Iamaleava.
Joey Aguilar, who was expected to be UCLA's starter in 2025 before all of the transfer fallout, and Robert McDaniel also recently entered the transfer portal.
Aguilar, who spent the last two seasons at Appalachian State before transferring to UCLA earlier this offseason, is expected to land with the Vols. Tennessee, however, hasn't officially announced the addition of Aguilar yet.
Former Alabama player may be partially responsible for Tennessee’s James Pearce not getting selected higher in the 2025 NFL Draft
Well that’s unfortunate for James Pearce
