Danny Stutsman's viral high school moment
The newest Saints linebacker went viral for his antics during a high school basketball game back in the day. He tried to get into his opponents' heads by lifting weights on the bench.
Stutsman's leadership explodes off his tape. He is the clear signal-caller and main piece of the Sooners defense on many plays.
Stutsman is an impressive tackler and makes plays consistently in the run game. He can play a role for New Orleans in year one, at least on special teams. I would expect him to learn plenty from Pete Werner early in his pro career with New Orleans.
Danny Stutsman has been the signal-caller for an elite Oklahoma Sooners defense the last few years, and a big reason they were as good as they were. As an All-American LB, Stutsman was used in the run game a ton as the on-ball linebacker, and not asked to do a ton of off-ball things because of the players he had around him. Stopping the run and shooting gaps are certainly his forte. In terms of playing in coverage, he has shown that he can do it, as long as you're not asking him to do anything crazy. He doesn't have a ton of experience in coverage, or at least as much as you would like, but when he did play in coverage, he was good. Stutsman is a relentless worker and player who plays with an insane motor 24/7. His sideline-to-sideline speed is something that may shock some people when you see him in pursuit. The Saints are getting a big-time LB with big-time potential in the NFL. With some good development, he can really be special, and reminds me a ton of a guy like Robert Spillane. — Justin Churchill
Danny Stutsman, LB, Oklahoma Sooners Scouting Report
Age: 22 (03/10/2003)
A to Z Sports Draft Projection: Round 3
Scouting Report: Danny Stutsman is one of the most experienced and productive linebacker prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft class. He posted three straight seasons with over 100 tackles for the Oklahoma Sooners while also adding some value in pass rush from time to time. There were some who had athleticism questions heading into the NFL Combine, but he silenced much of that with his 4.52-second forty-yard dash. He tested a bit below average in the agility drills, but that wasn't a surprise. Stutsman's one area for significant improvement is in coverage. He's typically very disciplined and assignment sound, but his side to side agility and recovery speed can get him in trouble when covering opponents with significant wiggle or burst. He still likely becomes a good starter one day.
Career Projection: Eventual Good Starter

ESPN NFL Draft analyst takes shot at the New Orleans Saints for passing on Shedeur Sanders to pick Tyler Shough in second round
The 2025 NFL Draft has been quite the whirlwind. For the New Orleans Saints, they selected a brand new quarterback in the second round. Kellen Moore chose Louisville QB Tyler Shough over some other prospect options, like Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Alabama's Jalen Milroe. Long-time NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. was a big fan […]
