Every draft cycle, there are a handful of fan-favorite prospects who gain momentum amongst mock drafters and content consumers alike. And the most popular Day 2 player for Titans fans in 2025 may very well have been the receiver out of Washington State: Kyle Williams.

Titans 1st overall pick and new franchise QB Cam Ward was pushing internally for some of his favorite targets from college to be drafted by his new team. Xavier Restrepo, his top receiver at Miami, was one such request that the Titans were able to honor by signing him in undrafted free agency.

but unfortunately, Cam’s favorite target Kyle Williams from 2023 at Washington State wasn’t something the Titans were able to swing.

After trading down from the 35th pick with Seattle, Tennessee had pick 52 and pick 82 to work with on Day 2. With their new 2nd round pick, they selected EDGE Femi Oladejo out of UCLA to address a massive need at pass rusher.

Then, the Titans war room waited patiently for 30 picks, hoping their top receivers might miraculously fall down the board to them at 82. The 3rd round was Kyle Williams’ consensus big board range, and Tennessee was very interested in him.

But with the 69th overall pick, Williams was taken off the board. And to add insult to injury for Titans fans, new Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel was the man who did it. Adding another receiving weapon for Drake Maye in his 2nd season was a big priority for New England, and Williams fit that bill as one of the darlings of the draft class.

Tennessee ended up addressing receiver early on Day 3, adding Florida WR Chimere Dike with the first pick of the 4th round and then trading up at the end of the round to take Stanford WR Elic Ayomanor. But the potential NFL reunion of college teammates between Cam Ward and Kyle Williams will have to remain a dream for hopeful Titans fans.
