A Tennessee Vols defender that was expected to see plenty of snaps in 2025 officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.
According On3's Pete Nakos, Vols safety Jakobe Thomas officially went into the transfer portal on Monday.
Thomas, who started his career at Middle Tennessee State, played 263 snaps for the Vols in 2024.
It was reported last week that Thomas was expected to enter the portal, but some comments from Tennessee safety Boo Carter last Friday seemed to indicate that Thomas was planning to remain with the Vols.
Carter told SportTalk Chattanooga on Friday that Thomas was staying with Tennessee while confirming that safeties Christian Charles and John Slaughter are entering the transfer portal as previously reported.
Thomas hasn't transferred anywhere yet, so it's still possible that he could return to Tennessee. But it appears that any potential return is up in the air now that his name is officially in the transfer portal.
