The Los Angeles Chargers got some notable off the football field news this week from their head coach. The players are not the only ones that will try to get healthier this offseason.
Harbaugh announces health plans
According to the coach himself, he will have a couple of procedures done this offseason to better his health. Harbaugh said that he will have a cardiac ablation and hip replacement surgery during the offseason.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a cardiac ablation is "a treatment for irregular heartbeats, called arrhythmias. It uses heat or cold energy to create tiny scars in the heart. The scars block faulty heart signals and restore a typical heartbeat."
This decision follows a season that saw Harbaugh have to leave a game in Week 6 due to a flare-up with atrial flutter. He also wore a heart monitor for a couple weeks during the season.
Meanwhile, Harbaugh will also try get rid of the noticeable limp he had this season with the hip replacement surgery.
Many fans noticed that he looked a bit uncomfortable while walking on the Chargers' sideline this year. His hip certainly played a role there.
Retirement
Harbaugh has consistently waved off the notion that his health will end his coaching career and force him to retire. He's determined to retire on his own terms sometime in the future.

There's no doubt that Harbaugh is committed to his craft and the Chargers. Hopefully, these precautions this offseason will improve his health for the foreseeable future. Everyone is rooting for him.
