Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has been named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for December/January.

This is a nice capper on a great rookie season from Thomas. Throughout six games in December and January, Thomas led all rookies in receptions (45), receiving yards (593), receiving yards per game (98.8), and ranked second in touchdown receptions with five.

He is the first Jaguars receiver to ever win the Rookie of the Month award. During the 2024 season as a whole, Thomas caught 87 passes on 133 targets, 1,282 receiving yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns. His yardage and touchdown total each ranked in the top five among all receivers in the NFL.

Thomas is just the fourth rookie of the Super Bowl era to record at least 1,100 receiving yards and 10 touchdown receptions. He was a bright spot during a dark season in Jacksonville, which resulted in a 4-13 record and the firing of head coach Doug Pederson.

If the Jaguars can find the right head coach and get quarterback Trevor Lawrence back on track, Thomas could become even more lethal and establish himself as an elite NFL receiver. Thomas' rookie year is even more impressive when you consider that there were no other legitimate receiving threats on the roster to help open things up for him.
