Running back Saquon Barkley had a beautiful trajectory with the New York Giants, where he played for six seasons. For the most part, it was a team decision to let him walk in free agency. Welp, revenge time has come.
After Giants owner John Mara said "I'll have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia", which was shown during an offseason edition of Hard Knocks, Barkley seemed to be trolling his former team in a creative commercial.
The good news for the New York Giants is that Saquon Barkley won't play on Sunday, as the Eagles have already locked in the second seed in the NFC and the NFC East title. In the first game between the two games back in October, Barkley rushed 17 times for 176 yards and a touchdown, plus two receptions for 11 yards.
Barkley has his best NFL season in 2024, joining the 2,000 rushing yards club. He finished the regular season with 2,005 rushing yards (5.8 per carry) and 33 receptions for 278 yards, with 15 total touchdowns.
It's really hard to replicate Barkley's production, but there's an argument that the Giants made a decent decision based on their roster-building timeline, though. Fifth-round rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. finished the season with 780 rushing yards and five touchdowns, plus 29 receptions for 277 yards and a touchdown through the air.
The problem for fans is that Barkley ended up in Philly, and that pain won't go away anytime soon. The running back is under contract with the Eagles through 2026.
