Brock Purdy made it very clear on Monday that he would like the issue of his contact extension to be resolved sooner rather than later. Regardless of whether the San Francisco 49ers oblige and come to a speedy resolution with their quarterback, Purdy will be receiving a raise in the near future.
In 2024, Purdy did not hit the same heights he reached his 2023 campaign, raising some doubts over what the Niners might be willing to pay him.
But his 2023 efforts ensured he will be getting a rise of some capacity in the first quarter of the calendar year.
Though he obviously did not play in last year's Pro Bowl Games due to the 49ers reaching Super Bowl 58, Purdy was one of nine San Francisco players named to the Pro Bowl in the 2023 season.
Having been drafted with the final pick in the seventh round a year earlier, that achievement triggered a Proven Performance Escalator in his rookie contract, raising his 2025 base salary to the level of a second-round restricted free agent tender.
Purdy's salary for 2025 prior to him triggering that escalator was due to be $1.1 million.
That change was initially expected to mean a raise of $2.5 million for Purdy.
However, per Joel Corry of CBS Sports, the 2025 second round RFA tender is now projected to be around $5.2 million, a raise of over $4 million.
The final will number will not be known until the 2025 salary cap is confirmed. Assuming the league follows the same timeline as last year, the cap will be announced next month.
So Purdy will learn how much more he is due in 2025 in the very near future. It may not be clear how significantly the 49ers are willing to compensate him for some time, but Purdy can imminently look forward to a well-deserved bump in his salary irrespective of how contract negotiations play out over the coming weeks.
