The Denver Broncos' 2024 season came to a disappointing end on Sunday, but there's more to be excited about for the future than there has been for a long time.
The biggest reason for that is the growth of rookie Bo Nix. From training camp all the way to the Wild Card playoff round, Nix has developed into what his teammates, coaches, and fans can call the Broncos' franchise quarterback.
Nix also displayed tremendous toughness this year. According to a report from DNVR Sports' Zac Stevens, Nix suffered three lower back fractures during Denver's Week 12 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite being in excruciating pain, Nix finished the game and played through the injury throughout the rest of the season.
Back injuries are among the toughest for a football player to deal with. You can bet every time Nix was hit, he felt every bit of it. Not only did he handle it like a pro, he had some of the best performances of his young career and led the Broncos to the postseason.
Nix finished his inaugural NFL season with a 66.3 completion percentage, 3,775 yards, 29 touchdown passes, 430 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns. He helped lead Denver to a 10-7 record, which is the highest number of wins the team has recorded in a season since 2015.
Nix now has the whole offseason to heal up and elevate his game to an even higher level in 2025. Hopefully the Broncos can give him some more weapons to work with as they look to contend in the tough AFC West.
Denver Broncos could be losing one of their most valuable employees to begin the offseason
A potential blow right off the bat.
