The Los Angeles could use some help at wide receiver this offseason. Ladd McConkey is a star, but the proven depth behind him is lacking.

Bringing back one of the most accomplished wideouts in franchise history could be a really smart move for Jim Harbaugh's team.

Keenan Allen is a free agent this offseason. At 32, he is not quite the player he was earlier in his career for LA, but he would absolutely be a smart addition for Justin Herbert, who already has experience with the potential Hall of Fame WR.

Derwin James recruits Keenan Allen

James commented on Allen's most recent post on Instagram, pushing for him to come back to the Chargers.

Early in January, Allen made a proclamation about his future and possible return to Los Angeles. He said that he will only consider returning to the Chicago Bears or going back to Los Angeles in some capacity.

Allen's family remained in California this past season while he played in Chicago. Accordingly, that would be another reason he may want to come back to Los Angeles, for either the Chargers or Rams.

“I have to talk it over with the wife and the kids to see what they want to do…"

— Keenan Allen

Keep in mind that Josh Palmer is also a free agent for LA. Bringing him back will be on the table, but it's not a given he's back with the team. Quentin Johnston showed improvement in 2024 but remains an inconsistent option in the passing game.

Allen would provide a veteran voice and skillset to the offense for the Chargers, and fans would love to see him back, surely.

Only time will tell if the Chargers can bring back one of their most beloved players of this generation. Regardless, the need for more WR talent on their roster is clear.
