Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield had quite the season in 2024. The Bucs' talented signal caller found himself near the top of several key statistical categories as he led Tampa Bay to their second straight NFC South title with him at the helm of the offense.
Unfortunately, that was not enough to see him among the original selections for the Pro Bowl when they were announced back at the beginning of January.
Fortunately, that oversight was corrected on Tuesday, when Mayfield was announced as a replacement selection. He's replacing Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, who is foregoing the event due to injury.
Mayfield becomes the first QB in franchise history to be named to the Pro Bowl multiple times in Tampa Bay, having been selected last season. Tom Brady was named to the Pro Bowl one time in his three seasons in Tampa Bay – in 2021.
Mayfield put forth one of the best statistical seasons by a quarterback in 2024. He was third in the NFL in passing yards (4500), third in completion percentage among starters (71.2%) tied for second in touchdowns (41), and fourth in passer rating among starters (106.8). Unfortunately, he also led the league with 16 interceptions.
He joins Tristan Wirfs, Vita Vea, and Mike Evans as representatives of the Buccaneers in Orland, where he had a terrific showing one year ago in taking home the offensive MVP honors for the event.
We'll find out this weekend if Baker can repeat his standout showing in the sport's most star-studded weekend.
